BUILDING A CUSTOM HOME?

At Master Drafters, we are proud to have had the opportunites to design hundreds of homes in in Loudon County, Tennessee.

A Master Drafters custom home is both attractive and exciting to owners and practical for builders.

GETTING STARTED

Planning

At this stage, the owner defines the requirements for the home and gathers reference materials (such as sketches, pictures, product literature, etc.) to be incorporated into the design. It is also crucial to identify any limitations that may affect the project. The budget is typically the most significant factor in determining the project’s scope. Other important considerations include lot size and characteristics, zoning requirements, subdivision restrictions, and more. Once all the necessary information is collected, contact us to schedule a meeting and begin the preliminary design process.

Preliminary Design

In this stage the Designer takes all the reference materials that the Owner supplies and prepares Preliminary Drawings for review. The first set of Preliminary Drawings consist of Floor Plan(s) with room sizes and overall outside dimensions labeled and Front Elevation. Typically Preliminary Drawings are completed in 7-10 days. The Owner reviews these drawings and makes notes on the drawing of any changes that are required. The Owner then returns the “marked up” drawings. In the second Preliminary Drawings, the changes are made as specified and the side and rear elevations are added. Revisions usually take less than a week depending on schedule and scope of the changes. This process continues until the Owner is completely satisfied and gives notice to proceed with CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.

Construction Drawings

This is the stage where the preliminary drawings are assembled into a complete set of “Blue Prints” that include all dimensions, notes, details, and specifications for the experienced builder of your choice to make your home a reality. Typically Construction Drawings are completed 10-14 days from the notice to proceed.
