Master Drafters has been creating custom home designs for property owners and builders in the East Tennessee region since 1989.  It is our mission to provide complete and accurate plans to our clients incorporating their wants and needs in the most effective and efficient way possible to bring their dream home to life.  The choice of a designer is one of the most important decisions that is made in the process of building a home.  We have arranged the following pages to answer many of the questions you may have about our services and provide examples of the quality of our work.

GETTING STARTED

STEP 1: PLANNING


In this stage the Owner defines the requirements for the home and collects reference materials (sketches, pictures, product literature, etc.) of features that are to be incorporated into the design of the home.  It is also important to identify any limitations that may have an impact on the project.  The budget is usually the biggest factor to consider when determining the scope of the project.  Other factors to consider are lot size and characteristics, zoning requirements, subdivision restrictions, etc.  When all the necessary information is collected, Contact Us to schedule a meeting and begin the PRELIMINARY DESIGN.

STEP 2: PRELIMINARY DESIGN

In this stage the Designer takes all the reference materials that the Owner supplies and prepares Preliminary Drawings for review. The first set of Preliminary Drawings consist of Floor Plan(s) with room sizes and overall outside dimensions labeled.  The Owner reviews these drawings and makes notes on the drawing or makes a list of changes that are desired.  The Owner then returns the “marked up” drawings or a list of notes. In the second Preliminary Drawings, the changes are made as specified and the side and the Front Elevation and the first version of Upper or Lower Floors are added.  This process continues until all of the plans and views are completed. When the Owner is completely satisfied, notice to proceed with CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS is given.

STEP 3: CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS

This is the stage where the preliminary drawings are assembled into a complete set of “Blue Prints” that include all dimensions, notes, details, and specifications for the experienced builder of your choice to make your home a reality.  See our sample set plans to see what in included in the final construction drawings.
